‘Disturbed but not surprised’: BWS discusses Navy’s Red Hill investigation, defuel plan

TL;DR - The Honolulu Board of Water Supply discussed the Navy’s investigative report on the Red Hill fuel storage tank leak and water contamination crisis in November 2021.

BWS also commented on the Navy’s defueling plan during a news conference on Friday, July 1.

The United States Navy released these two documents on Thursday, June 30. Their investigative report included details on the May and November 2021 fuel releases, as well as preventable failures leading up to the spill and water crisis that left many Oahu residents with contaminated water.

“The BWS is disturbed but not surprised by the contents of the two documents released yesterday by the U.S. Navy regarding the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility.”
