Welcome Kahinu, Our 2025 Summer PIPES Intern

by Kirsten Kagimoto, Chapter Deputy Director | Reading time: 0.5 minutes

This summer, we’re thrilled to welcome Kahinu Hayashida to the Sierra Club of Hawaiʻi ʻohana as our (first ever!) 2025 Pacific Internship Programs for Exploring Science (PIPES) intern!

Originally from Waiākea, Hilo and now living in North Kona, Kahinu brings a strong sense of place and purpose to her work. She recently graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Political Science, and is passionate about advocating for environmental justice across our islands.

Through her internship, Kahinu will be supporting our advocacy, outreach, and organizing efforts—especially around environmental health and justice. Her thoughtful approach, deep roots, and commitment to protecting Hawaiʻi’s people and places are already making an impact.

Please give a warm Sierra Club welcome to Kahinu!
