Applications open for ʻŌpio Organizing for Change

We are excited to announce an incredible opportunity for young people interested in community organizing! The Sierra Club of Hawaiʻi with the support of Kamehameha Schools Kaiāulu is launching our "‘Ōpio Organizing For Change" training series, designed to equip young folks, ages 16-24, with the skills and knowledge needed to help communities harness their collective power, and create positive change for our people and ʻāina.

As we have seen with the Kapūkakī (Red Hill) water crisis and in the aftermath of the Lāhainā fires - as well as in many pivotal moments throughout Hawaiʻi's recent history, from the Sugar Strike to the Kahoʻolawe occupation to the Mauna Kea movement - community organizing has been and will continue to be key to a more just, democratic, and sustainable way of life in these islands.

ʻŌpio are invited to apply to be one of the 15 members of the inaugural "‘Ōpio Organizing For Change" cohort, and learn how to use one of the most powerful tools we have to protect what we love, and to build a better and brighter future for our Hawaiʻi nei.
