Special Spring Fundraiser: Celebrate Native Plants, Earth Month, and Community Forests

In celebration of Native Hawaiian Plant Month, Earth Month, and the Year of Our Community Forests, we are excited to announce a special spring fundraiser!

Now through April 30, every new monthly donor that signs up at $7+/month, or existing monthly donors that increase their donation by $5+ this month, will receive a Kumulāʻau Tree Game ($15 value) as a token of our gratitude.

This fun, educational game was developed exclusively for the Year of Our Community Forests and features some of our favorite trees—niu, hala, ʻōhiʻa, wiliwili, ʻulu and more! It’s a great way to learn about Hawaiʻi’s trees and how best we can help plant, mālama, and nurture them for future generations.

Click here to sign up as a new monthly donor or contact hawaii.chapter@sierraclub.org to increase your existing monthly donation.

About Kumulāʻau

Kumulāʻau is inspired by Treemendous, a game originally created in 2021 by four eight graders from ʻIolani School, in collaboration with Sherry Cassetta, a teacher at ʻAiea Intermediate School, and Olivia Pablacion, an environmental educator. Working with a team of experts (including keiki who tested the game!) they created a fun, hands-on way to explore the many benefits of trees and the myriad of challenges they face in Hawaiʻi’s changing environment.

This work is supported by wonderful partners led by Trees for Honolulu’s Future, a nonprofit organization working toward a tree-filled island that preserves and enhances our quality of life, especially in the face of climate change.

Big mahalo to our dedicated volunteers Sherry Cassetta and Randy Ching, along with the many agency staff, educators, students, and organizational partners who helped develop this amazing game. We’re grateful for all the hard work that went into bringing it to life!
